The 10th edition of the film festival from the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa took place from the 12th to the 28th of January.

This year's event took place in the House of Cinema, the Czech Center, the G8 Cultural Center and Euro Cinema. It was opened with the screening of the Iranian feature film "Immortality".

As the organizers from Pozor Association said at the opening: "Ten years ago we started the festival with Iranian Cinema Evening. That's why we have now decided to open its jubilee edition with an Iranian film again. The Iranian Embassy has been supporting us since then, and we are grateful to them."

The Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran - Mr. Hamid Reza Azadi, congratulated the organizers and the audience and stressed that so far more than 100 Iranian films have been shown at the festival. He said he was happy that mutual work contributed to the fact that the festival was getting better and better and that the embassies of a number of countries supported the event with great enthusiasm. "Cinema is a window through which one can see the culture of a country or a nation", he said.

In fact, this is the idea of ​​the festival - to get the Bulgarian audience acquainted with the culture and traditions of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa through the best of their feature, documentary and short films. There are also parallel thematic events each year. This year the accent was the link between cinema and literature, therefore various texts, poets, writers were presented.

The 10th Film Festival of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa was organized with the assistance of the Embassies of: the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Algeria Democratic and People's Republic, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, Lebanon, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Palestine State, the Embassy of the IR Iran, and in partnership with: the Cervantes-Sofia Institute, the Czech Center, the Devum Foundation, TaxiMe and Friends of India Club.
