The Grand Prix for 2017 won the singer Rossella Zitiello from Italy. "Diplomatic Spectrum" was the media partner of the event

From 29th of September to the 1st of October at the "Konstantin Kisimov” Musical and Drama Theater in the Old Town, the 15th edition of the International Competition for Young Performers of Popular Song "Silver Yantra" took place. The event was organized by the Association "Silver Yantra - 2003" and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, under the patronage of the Mayor of the city - engineer Daniel Panov.

This year, 90 participants from 5 to 25 years old from 13 countries - Bulgaria, Italy, Malta, Finland, Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Ukraine, Slovenia, France and England – competed. They were allocated in four age groups. In each of them were awarded winners in five categories: for the best complex performance, for performing a Bulgarian song, for performing a song in the native language, for performing a foreign song, for stage presence. The professional international jury, headed by Silvia Katsarova, and its members: the pop musician Hristo Paskalev - Pascal /Bulgaria/, the producers Katalin Daskalu /Romania/ and Rocco Palazzo /Italy/, the vocal pedagogue Prof. Rodica Rosioru /Moldova/, the composer Jelena Velikic (Serbia) and the director of the festival in England, Iva Angelicheva, nominated the awards.

In the first age group /5-8 years/ first prize for complex presentation won the Romanian Maya-Briana Fluture, in the second /9-12 years/ - Viliyana Ivanova, in the third /13-18 years/ - Gergana Todorova, and in the fourth /25 years/ - Kristina Doncheva. All awards by category can be found HERE.

Rossella Zitiello grabbed the Grand Prix "Silver Yantra - 2017". She left Veliko Tarnovo not only with the statuette, but also with a 1000 euro given by Ice Factory Ltd.

The special prize of the mayor of VelikoTarnovo won Liliya Angelicheva. And that of the chairman of the Veliko Tarnovo Municipal Council - Milos Samardzic /Bosnia and Herzegovina/. Various incentives have been made by partner companies and directors of international competitions.

The competition ended with a laureates' gala concert broadcasted directly on the internet at You Tube - Silver Yantra. Many flowers and applauses were gathered by the young performers. But the big surprise this year was the so-called "Singing Families" (brothers and sisters, children and parents). They participated in the contest, although outside of the competition, and at the gala concert they made a real show and completely conquered the audience.

More about "Silver Yantra"

The international contest for young performers of popular song started in 2003 in Veliko Tarnovo. That is why it is called "Silver Yantra". Its creator, director and producer is Rumyana Nacheva, journalist and head of the children's studio "RUMINA". Thanks to this woman, the competition starts and follows its dreams and aims: to create international contacts and to assert in the young performers a taste for the best samples of the Bulgarian and world popular song. Step by step "Silver Yantra" is established as one of the most serious and prestigious scenes for young talents from Bulgaria and abroad.

It also validates its symbols. The Grand Prix statuette of "Silver Yantra", made by the sculptor Chavdar Velchev from Veliko Tarnovo, has become a dream for young pop artists. The musical emblem of the competition - the song "Yantra", music by Moris Aladjem and text by Dimitar Tsenov, performed by Vanesa Ilieva, annually opens and closes the event. The musical signal of "Silver Yantra" /author - Emil Kosturkov/ and the Silver Yantra logo /author – Trifon Kalfov/ accompany the competition and are its card in front of the world.

And here's "Silver Yantra" celebrating its 15 years. For Rumiana Nacheva and her team these are years full of a lot of work and joy, ups and efforts to overcome obstacles. But their work has turned the old capital city into the capital of the popular song for young performers.

Throughout these years, the doyen of the jury and the artistic secretary of the competition has always been our famous pop artist Hristo Paskalev - Pascal.

Otherwise, many things have changed over the years: co-organizers, patrons, partners, presidents of the international jury, sponsors...

For the last five years, "Silver Yantra" enjoys the serious support of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and goes under the patronage of its mayor - Eng. Daniel Panov.
