This is the name of the just published book of Acad. Damyan Damyanov which was presented on April 16 in the Great Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Academicians, professors, rectors, luminaries in Bulgarian medicine, scientists, public figures, intellectuals, politicians, MPs, journalists ...
all applauded the eminent scientist, giving him flowers, forming a huge queue with his book in hand for autographs. One can rarely see such a thing in Bulgaria today.
During the presentation the President of BAS - Acad. Stefan Vodenitcharov stressed that the book can trace the entire process of abdication of the state of the science in Bulgaria. He said "Leaders, science, education" should be in the hands of every Bulgarian politician who wants to run the country successfully. The corresponding member Dimitar Dimitrov pointed out that in the book one true enlightener alarms and gives ideas on how to preserve, develop and finance scientific potential, how to help science survive in Bulgaria.
The book of Acad. Damyan Damyanov contains articles and interviews with him from the period 1990 - 2014. They reflect the problems of science, higher education, health care, medicine and the realization of the young in these areas. And he has what to say about these issues.
This worthy man is one of the luminaries of the Bulgarian surgery. His life is associated with the University Hospital "Tsaritsa Yoanna", ISUL for already over 30 years. Since 1995 Acad. Damyan Damyanov is the superintendent, and since 2002 he is the head of the Department of Abdominal Surgery at the hospital in Sofia. His years of experience in the field of abdominal surgery place him among the medical elite of Bulgaria and Europe, and his qualities of a leader make him a Chairperson of the Bulgarian Surgical Society. Reached the top of professionalism in medicine, Acad. Damyan Damyanov is a remarkable scientist and erudite, a person with encyclopedic knowledge and public responsibilities. From 1990 to 1998 he was a Deputy Chairman of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, and from 1998 till today - its chairman. Since 2008 he was a corresponding member and from 2012 - an academician. Currently he is the Deputy President of BAS. He is author and co-author of 28 textbooks and scientific books and over 250 publications. He has made two inventions, one utility model and 14 rationalizations.
