On the occasion of the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Four - Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic, the "Visegrad Film Fest" was held for the second time in Bulgaria.
Organizers of the film festival, which took place from the 5th to the 8th of June, were the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Polish Institute in Sofia and co-organizers were the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, the Hungarian Cultural Institute at the Embassy of Hungary in Sofia and the Czech Center.
The films this year were dedicated to the topic of Travel. The Bulgarian audience saw the announced for best young European feature film in 1989 "300 Miles to Heaven", directed by Maciej Dejczer (Poland-Denmark-France). The romantic comedy "Swing" (2016), by the director and screenwriter Csaba Fazekas(Hungary), made the audience laugh and dream, showing women that there is always hope for a new chance in life. Documentary films were also impressive. " I love Slovakia With You " (2015) by Pavol Barabas and Robert Sveda (Slovakia) tells about the trips of an Irish student and a young Slovakian actress across the country. "By a Trabant to the Last Breath" (2016) of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, created by, probably the most famous Czech traveler, Dan Priban, shows how his toughest expedition took place - for half a year he traveled from the Australian city of Perth to East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
On the 5th of June the documentary exhibition "From Visegrad to Visegrad" had its opening, again on the occasion of the Polish presidency of the Visegrad Four. It reveals, using archival materials, the historical links and cooperation in different areas between the countries in the group. The exhibition can be visited until the 15th of August at the Polish Institute in Sofia.
