On 26 November, the Day of the Victims of Holodomor, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Bulgaria - H.E. Dr. Mykola Baltazhi, organized a memorial holy mass in Sveta Nedelya church in Sofia.
On 29 November in the State Agency Archives the exhibition "Killed with hunger: the unknown genocide of the Ukrainians" was presented.
The day to commemorate the victims of the Famine is marked each year on the fourth Saturday of November by the Ukrainians all over the world. On it they light a Commemorative candle on the windowsills in their homes for the innocent victims of famine caused by Stalin's Soviet Government and affected most the then Ukrainian SSR, but also Kuban and other areas in the Soviet Union.
The planned seizure of the harvest of grain crops and other food products from the villagers by representatives of the Soviet power during the Famine of 1921-1922, 1932-1933, 1946-1947, led to the starvation of millions of people and is one of the greatest tragedies in the history of the Ukrainian people.
