The Embassy of Palestine in the Republic of Bulgaria marked the Day of Palestinian culture with the presentation of the anthology After You There is No After. This second revised edition of poems by Mahmoud Darwish gathered many guests and friends of the Palestinian people in Hall 10 of the National Palace of Culture on 12 March. They were warmly welcomed by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Madbuh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine in Bulgaria.
The attendees enjoyed the work of the great Palestinian - wise, gentle and exciting, thanks to the brilliant job of our famous interpreter Maya Tsenova. In fact, the selection and translation of the poems were done by her and Aziz Tash. What is Mahmoud Darwish for Palestine? Born on March 13, 1941 in the village of Al-Biruni, somewhere in Galilee, the poetic talent of Palestinian thrives and gradually conqueres the world. In 67 years he published dozens of books of poetry and managed to become one of the most prominent peaks of the Arab and world literature. Not surprisingly, some time ago Lubomir Levchev called it "the most gentle character of Palestine." And shortly after the death of Darwish, in 2009, he wrote: "Every nation and every land has the name of at least one poet among their sacred signs. For the tragic Palestine /perhaps the most tormented land of this world / this is the name of Mahmoud Darwish. I knew him. I wrote about him when he was alive. And today I can neither speak nor be silent. But I see that the sign is the same. This is told by the child from the refugee camp and the sky - the refugee camp of the stars. I never heard and read a word of violence, revenge or dark hatred uttered by this wonderful world poet. And perhaps therein lies his strength and greatness. "
