The National Day of the Republic of Korea – 3 October, is marked by numerous events aiming to popularize Korean traditions and culture and to bring closer Korean and Bulgarian people. This year makes no exception.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sofia funded by of the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and supported by the Korea Agro-Fisheries&Food Trade Corp., organized Korean Food Week in Hotel Marinela Sofia, from 30 September to 4 October. During that period the Lobby Garden Restaurant of the hotel offered genuine Korean dishes prepared by a team of chefs from the renowned Congdu restaurant in Seoul who arrived to Bulgaria especially for the week to promote one of the healthiest cuisines in the world, recognized by the World Health Organization and other prominent international nutrition institutions. The Congdu Company is famous not only in Korea but in many other countries for realizing fermented aesthetics in a modern and creative way.

The Korean Food Week also featured a Korean Culinary Class organized jointly with the International Culinary Academy HRC, during which participants learned how to cook the fabulous kimchi salad, the succulent bossam, the delicate mandu and other exotic meals.

The chance to try these delicious specialties had also the invitees to the Opinion Leaders’ Dinner on 29^th September and many politicians, academicians, artists, who attended the Korea’s National Day Reception on 3 October hosted by H. E. Mr. Shin Boonam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Bulgaria, and his wife in Hotel Marinela Sofia.

During the Korean Culinary Class, organized by the Embassy together with the HRC International Culinary Academy on October 4 in Sofia, the chefs from the famous Congdu Restaurant in Seoul unveiled some of the secrets of the famous Korean cuisine. H. E. Mr. Shin Boonam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Bulgaria, and his wife personally attended the class.
