National Day Message by H. E. Mr. Anatol Cebuc, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Bulgaria
On August 27th, the Republic of Moldova celebrates its national holiday - Independence Day. Since the declaration of independence, we have committed to establishing the rule of law, building a free and democratic country. This path has been challenging. We had a military conflict, and there has not been any definitive solution found yet. My country is now, along with the international community, a subject to new challenges caused by the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and have opened our doors widely to help them.
This year we celebrate 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Bulgaria. Bulgaria was among the first countries to recognize the independence of our country. During those three decades, the cooperation between Moldova and Bulgaria has been characterized by an upward development based on friendship and mutual respect. The central authorities from Chisinau and Sofia are engaged in an open and honest dialogue regarding the bilateral agenda as well as the European perspective of the Republic of Moldova.
The Republic of Bulgaria has always supported the Republic of Moldova in its efforts to conclude and, subsequently, implement the Association Agreement, including the free trade component, with the European Union, and has assisted my country in achieving democratic reforms. Bulgaria has supported the Republic of Moldova in getting the status of a EU candidate state and has always been a supporter of the European path of the Republic of Moldova.
An essential element of strengthening bilateral ties is economic cooperation, which has been increasing and is certainly a good basis for the advancement and diversification of trade exchanges. The investments of economic agents from Bulgaria are protected and welcome in the Republic of Moldova.
Using this beautiful opportunity, I would like to thank the Bulgarian authorities for the support given during these years to the Republic of Moldova, for its openness towards the European course of our country, as well as the contribution brought to the implementation of various social and cultural projects in the Bulgarian communities in Moldova. I am more than convinced of the successful development of our cooperation at both state and interpersonal levels.
La mulţi ani, Republica Moldova!
Peace and prosperity to our nations!
