On the 14th of November in the village of Stoletovo , Karlovo municipality, a formal celebration of the 185th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest heroes of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 - Nikolay Grigorievich Stoletov was held.

Major General of the Russian army, he was appointed commander of the newly formed Bulgarian resistance. He had a huge contribution to the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule. He participated in the battles at Stara Zagora and Shipka, leading the vanguard column in the squad of General Skobelev during the march through the Balkan Mountain and in the battle near Sheinovo village. After the war he obtained senior military and diplomatic duties.
The celebration of the 185th anniversary of his birth took place at the monument of General Stoletov in the village. Attended by H. E. Mr. Anatoly Anatolievich Makarov- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Bulgaria; the mayor of the town of Karlovo- Emil Kabaivanov, the vice-rector of the Vladimir State University, representatives from the Embassy, ​​the municipal administration, a delegation from the Region of Vladimir /Stoletov was born in the town of Vladimir/, residents of Karlovo. A descendant of the family of the General – A.L. Stoletov with his wife was also present. Students from the school to the Russian Embassy made literary and historical performance and local folk groups sang traditional Bulgarian songs.
Participants in the ceremony laid wreaths and flowers at the monument of the General.
