A photo exhibition of the Russian Geographic Society was opened on the 5th of September in front of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sofia.

The exposition, named "The Most Beautiful Country" and ordered along the mission's fence, consisted of the winning photographs of the recent competition dedicated to the beautiful wildlife of Russia. Its aim is to strengthen the society's drive for its preservation and considerate attitude towards the environment. 11,000 Russian and foreign photographers, who had sent about 52,000 photos, took part in the competition! The best of these were chosen by a representative jury, headed by the President of the Russian Geographic Society, Mr. Sergei Shoygu.

At the opening of the exhibition, H. E. Mr. Anatoly Makarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria, welcomed the guests, presented the exhibition and shared his delight that he was not a member of the jury, because choosing a few pictures out of the thousands obtained was not an easy job. On the Bulgarian side, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Bulgaria - Mr. Krasen Kralev pointed out the high artistic value of the photo exhibition and expressed the hope that it will contribute more to the development of the Russian-Bulgarian mutual understanding and our contacts.

Then the guests of the event enjoyed the unique photos, and had the chance to comment on them while having a glass of wine. Among them were the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Yavor Notev, ambassadors, diplomats, cultural figures, journalists, citizens.

Every citizen of Sofia will have the opportunity to see the exhibition until November 1st.
