On 24th of April, in the Central Military Club officially was presented the book "Diary of the Tsar Liberator of the Liberation of Bulgaria" by Leonid Chichagov.

The occasion was the 140th anniversary of the proclaimation of the Manifesto of Emperor Alexander II for the announcement of the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation /1877-1878/. The historic document was signed on the 24th of April 1877 in Chisinau. The war led towards the liberation of the Bulgarians and initiated the restoration of the Bulgarian state.

In his book "Diaryof the Tsar Liberator of the Liberation of Bulgaria", Leonid Chichagov, a witness of the events of that time, describes the period of the Emperor Alexander II's residence in the Bulgarian lands and his activity at the headquarters of the Russian troops, as well as the contribution of the higher military Command in the course of military action. The work was translated into Bulgarian in 1901. Today, thanks to the Russian embassy and with the assistance of NIS Petrol EOOD, a new edition was made.

Participants in the presentation of the book were: the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria MsIliana Yotova, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Mr. Yavor Notev, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation H. E. Mr. Anatoly Makarov and the Chairman of the "Sustainable Development for Bulgaria" Foundation - Mrs. Stanka Shopova. The event was honored by ambassadors, representatives of public and political organizations, journalists.

In his greeting speech towards the guests H. E. Mr. Anatoly Makarov reminded that the Russo-Turkish Liberation War (1877-1878) had a nationwide support in Russia and that it has become a pivotal value of the Slavic people, Russia and Bulgaria, united by the general genetic code and the common faith. His Excellency stressed that, as 140 years ago, today Russia remains one of the key forces in the world capable of challenging international encounters and of helping fraternal nations.

The audience welcomed the speech of Prof. Andrei Pantev with great interest. Based on undeniable historical facts, the historian emotionally clarified the unique character of the Russian-Turkish Liberation war, the nobleness of its goals, the Slavic and Orthodox spirit of the strategy of the Russian state, of each and every warrior, officer and general; A war different from all that have been led at that time.

After the presentation of the book, participants and guests presented wreaths and flowers before the Monument of the Tsar Liberator.

With this event the Embassy of the Russian Federation and the Co-ordination Council "Bulgaria-Russia" initiated the anniversary celebrations of the 140th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria.
