Address by H. E. Mr. Stefano Baldi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria, on the occasion of the national holiday of the country

Innovative ideas of the Italian Embassy in Sofia for a virtual celebration of the national holiday

How is the National Holiday celebrated abroad during COVID-19?

Due to the continuing restrictions imposed by the current epidemic situation, it is not possible or appropriate to organize the traditional reception for the 2nd of June. Therefore, the Italian Embassy in Sofia decided to implement a number of original ideas, using the opportunities offered by the virtual world.

Two video addresses of the ambassador were made (in English, with subtitles in Bulgarian and in Italian), which you can see on the web and Facebook page of the embassy, the text of which was distributed by e-mail.

In addition, a special Video was created on the basic principles of the Italian constitution which was read by different  representatives of the Italian System (the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia, ICE Sofia Agency, Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and Confindustria Bulgaria) and the two consuls of Italy in Bulgaria. It is made with Bulgarian subtitles and can be seen online on the YouTube channel of the embassy.

Finally, the Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria Stefano Baldi sent by e-mail a virtual gift of three digital books, created for the occasion: "A photographic album 140 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and Bulgaria" by Stefano Baldi (in Italian and Bulgarian), "Ambassadors of Italy in Sofia. Leading faces in 140 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and Bulgaria" by Stefano Baldi (in Italian) and "In(visible) squares", edited by Marco Delogu (in Italian and English).

Among the events organized on the occasion of the National Holiday is the photographic exhibition "Orpheus", organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia, which can be seen in the garden in front of the National Theater "Ivan Vazov" until June 14th.
