On the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Moldova H.E. Mr. Ştefan Gorda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the country in Bulgaria, and his wife Mrs. Lidia Proud gave a reception on September 19 in Radisson Blu Grand Hotel Sofia.

25 years ago - on August 27, 1991, the MPs of the Moldovan parliament adopted the Declaration of Independence, an act with which they expressed the desire of the people to live freely and democratically. From that moment on the Moldovans celebrate their Independence Day on that date. "Since 1991, Moldova definitely progressed - in the development of new democratic institutions and new educational system; the situation of the human rights and fundamental freedoms has improved; media enjoy a relatively good level of freedom." - said H.E. Mr. Stefan Gorda in his address to the guests. And he stressed that Bulgaria is among the first countries to recognize the independence of the Republic of Moldova and among the first member states to ratify the European Union Association Agreement.
