The twelfth edition of the Film Festival dedicated to the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa region ran from the 14th to the 30th of January in Sofia.
The audience enjoyed over 30 feature films, documentaries and short films, screened at the Cinema House, G8 Cultural Center, Euro Cinema, Czech Center - Sofia and Vlajkova Cinema.
The festival opened at the House of Cinema with the most awarded Egyptian film of the last decade, "At the End of the World" ("Yomeddine"). Like every year, there were formal dinners of the countries participating in the festival and with the support of the respective embassy, the audience had the chance to get to know elements of their traditions and culture. Such were the evenings of Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Palestine, Iran, India, Morocco. There were also quite a few accompanying events - book presentations, exhibitions and special dinners.
The focus of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival 2020 was Scandi MENAR. Three films were presented - co-productions between Scandinavian and Middle Eastern countries.
