Throughout November and early December, the National Gallery presented a selection of 70 paintings and sculptures of Nikola Karamfilov.
The works are from the period 2003 - 2013 and are owned by the gallery "Lyunion" in Plovdiv and by the collector Georgi Ivanov.
Our very big artist left us early – only at the age of 50; in 2014, at a time when his talent was like a volcano - strong, powerful, and both contained and compelling. The exhibited works at the National Gallery reveal his artistic nature, rebellious soul and philosophical revelations.
Kolyo Karamfilov left us masterpieces in the field of printmaking, sculpture, performance, installation and painting. We will remember him as one of the founders of the Plovdiv avant-garde group "Edge".
