On the 10th of February H. Е. Mrs. Latifa Akharbash, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bulgaria, held a dinner in her residence on the occasion of the participation of Morocco in the International Tourism Fair VACATION/SPA EXPO, that took place from the 11th to the 13th of February at Inter Expo Center - Sofia.
It was attended by journalists and representatives of the tourism industry. At the dinner, Mr. Khalid Mimi, Regional Director of the Moroccan National Tourism Organisation, made a presentation about Morocco as a top tourist destination. The country is 25th in the global rankings, but has ambitions to enter the top 20. He briefly presented the most important tourist sights in the country, their diversity and the different options for tourism.
H. Е. Mrs. Latifa Akharbash underlined the importance of the tourism industry, which is the second national GDP in Morocco. A big part of the population is engaged in it – in the hotels but in the maintenance of traditional crafts as well, which are a great attraction and are much sought after by tourists. The investments made for the development of tourism in Morocco are great because the state wants to position itself well in high-end services.
H. Е. Mrs. Latifa Akharbash and Mr. Khalid Mimi emphasized the fact that the security situation in their country is very high, something that is essential for tourists today.
Every year around 6,000 Bulgarians choose Morocco as a destination. If charter flights get agreed between our countries, the tourist exchanges between them will increase many times.
Of course, after the presentation of Morocco as a top destination, the guests enjoyed some of the masterpieces of the rich Moroccan cuisine and tried homemade traditional dishes.
