On December 12, H. E. Mr. Fahad Al-Mushairi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Bulgaria,

hosted a reception on the occasion of the country’s National Day in the "Sofia" Hall of the Marinela Hotel. The event was attended by numerous guests, including officials, ambassadors, representatives of the business community, cultural sector, and media.

H. E. Mr. Fahad Al-Mushairi welcomed the attendees with a warm "Welcome!" and addressed them with a ceremonial speech.

I have the pleasure to welcome you all to this reception on the occasion of the 146^th anniversary of the founding of the State of Qatar by its founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, "Peace be upon him," on December 18, 1878. On this day, we solemnly celebrate both the founding of the state, its national unity, and its brilliant achievements in the field of development and prosperity over the years.

This day is not only an occasion that we celebrate. This is the day when the Qatari people see the incarnation of their pride of the history of their country. It reflects the nations unity and solidarity in the name of a bright future. This day reminds for the virtues and the principles on which the State of Qatar has been founded.

The National Day is an opportunity to express our gratitude for the wise leadership of H. H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, "may God protect him", who leads the country on the way of achievements, development and bright future, with the foresighted government and the honorable Qatari people.

The State of Qatar has achieved remarkable success in different fields such as: politics, diplomacy, economy, sport, medicine, educations, etc. These accomplishments manifest the joint efforts made by the wise leadership and the devoted Qatari people, painting an impressive picture of the future of the State of Qatar that continues to work hard to better its positions on the global level in all international spheres.

The State of Qatar has proven its ability to exert a positive influence on the global stage and has become a role model for effective diplomacy, as it is committed to opening up to the world and building balanced relations that strengthen peace and stability, through its role as a trusted mediator in resolving international disputes and supporting humanitarian efforts. We believe in the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing the common challenges facing our world today. Therefore, the State of Qatar actively participates in initiatives to improve regional security and supports international organizations through humanitarian aid and development.

It is great honor for me to represent my country, Qatar, in this beautiful land with ancient history, captivating nature and friendly people. The State of Qatar considers the Republic of Bulgaria to be a reliable partner due to the excellent cooperation and mutual support in the frames of international forums and on key issues. Our friendship includes all levels and continues to develop thank to the common desire for deepening of the bilateral relations and the continuous efforts of both countries.

The friendship, cooperation and diplomatic relations between the two countries date back to 1995 until 2012, when the Embassy of the State of Qatar opened in Sofia. From that year on, we have witnessed more than 25 official visits, including a state visit by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, "God bless him", to the Republic of Bulgaria in 2018 and the official visit of His Excellency Mr. Rumen Radev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, to the State of Qatar in 2019.

We also have to point out the many high-level meetings in the frames of international forums, and well as the signed over 30 memorandums of understanding and agreements in sectors such as energy, security, defense, media, investments, trade, industry, agriculture, etc. I avail myself of this opportunity to express my deep gratitude and appreciation to your country for the good cooperation with us and the continuing support of the Bulgarian government to the Embassy of the State of Qatar for the strengthening of the bilateral ties in the name of our common interests and striving to enhance the partnership and friendly relations between us.

During the reception, the guests had the opportunity to watch captivating videos showcasing the beauty of Qatar, to enjoy the country’s music, and savor unique Arabic dishes. A specially designated area in the hall displayed exquisite pieces of traditional craftsmanship.

Additionally, women who wished to experience the exotic charm and traditions of the East left the evening with beautifully henna-painted hands, for which a dedicated space was also arranged.

All guests of the warm reception took home souvenir gifts from the embassy, as a memento of this shared and truly unforgettable evening.
