On the occasion of the national holiday of the country H.E. Mr. Marian Jakubocy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic in the Republic of Bulgaria, and his wife gave a reception at the Embassy on September 13.
After the Gentle Revolution in Czechoslovakia in 1989, the serious question about its partition into two states is raised. The culmination of the process is September 1, 1992, when Slovakia adopts its constitution. After that the events develop quickly. On January 1, 1993 the new state - the Slovak Republic, was declared. In 2004 it became a member of NATO, the same year the country joined the European Union. In 2007 it was admitted to Schengen. The key date September 1 - the Day of the Constitution, became the national holiday.
At the moment, the Slovak Republic has confidently undertaken the six-month presidency of the EU Council and naturally the reception was attended by many distinguished guests. The official cake for the celebration was solemnly cut into pieces by H.E. Mr. Marian Jakubocy and Mrs. Meglena Kuneva, Deputy Prime Minister for European Policies Coordination and Institutional Issues and Minister of Education and Science.
