On the 11th of May, for the fifth time in Bulgaria and tenth in several European countries, the Literature Night was held. The event, initiated in here by the Czech Centre in Sofia was organized by cultural institutes and embassies of countries united
in the organization EUNIC Bulgaria – the Austrian Embassy, British Council, Goethe Institute, the Danish Embassy, Institute Kamoynsh, Instituto Cervantes, Irish Embassy, Italian Cultural Institute, the Polish Institute, the Romanian Embassy, Hungarian cultural Institute, Czech center, but also from the cultural and information Centre of the Republic of Macedonia, the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria and the „Children's books“ foundation.
This year, eleven Bulgarian cities - Bourgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Pernik, Plovdiv, Ruse, Sofia, Stara Zagora and Shumen were conducted in parallel readings of selected excerpts from the works of contemporary European composers with the aim of promoting them. This happened in different places in the so-called „readers nests“ from 18 to 22 pm, and was accompanied by various side events.
